Umugwaneza Ada Jeanne is a dance artist from Rwanda. She completed a 3-year diploma in traditional and contemporary dances at the Ecole des Sables in Senegal. She is the President of the Rwanda Organization for the Promotion of Performing arts (ORPAS- ROPPA) and also completed a teacher training programme at Muda Africa.
She started dancing at Abatarutwa cultural troupe in 2007, where she now works as a coach and choreographer. In 2010 she started her training in contemporary dance with Guy Beaujot, and participated in one of his videos called “Agaciro”. She participated in the Festival “East Africa Night Tolerance” in 2015 and 2016 with her duo “One plus one equal three” with dancer Murekatete Joselyne.
In 2016 she created her solo “other root” about the Rwanda Genocide, developed at the Ecole des Sables. “Ikamba 1 & 2” performed at the East African Nights of Tolerance festival in 2019. It is a trio for 3 women dancers about important feminine figures of Rwandan history. She spent one month at Les Halles Schaerbeek in Brussels in 2019 with Kettly Noel, a residency organized by EANT festival, Amizero Kompanie. She currently works as a dancer, choreographer and trainer of Rwandan traditional dances at the Abatarutwa cultural troupe that works for the Presidential Museum of Rwanda. She dreams to create a space where she can train new dancers, choreograph and perform.

Other Root, 2016
In 2016, Umugwaneza Ada Jeanne created her solo “Other Root” about the Rwandan Genocide against Tutsi.
This piece was developed at the Ecole des Sables.
